When delivering alcohol, our Runners have to be extra cautious for several reasons. Firstly, it’s important to take care so any glass bottles are not damaged. Secondly, to make sure you are not handling alcohol to a minor. As our Runners are well aware, it’s a legal requirement to check anyone’s ID who look under 25 years old when delivering alcohol and tobacco products. If in doubt, always check (it’s a compliment!).

If the recipient has no proof of ID then unfortunately, by law, the goods cannot be delivered, regardless of how old they look. It is illegal for anyone to give alcohol to someone who is underage, even on private property. It’s also illegal for an adult to ask a minor to collect a alcohol or tobacco for them. Anyone who supplies alcohol to someone under 18 can be charged and receive a hefty fine, including the person delivering the product.

As a tip for our Runners when delivering alcohol/tobacco products, we recommend taking a picture of the products as well as the ID, if the person is under 25.
