There are so many reasons why Sydney is one of the most admired and unique cities in the world, but its geography would probably be at the top of the list.

Unlike any other city, Sydney CBD has over 100 beaches right on its doorstep, and even when you’re not at the beach, you get a strong sense a glistening body of water could appear around any corner. So, it makes sense that Sydney is also home to over 50 road, rail, and pedestrian bridges and 5 major tunnels! To put that in perspective, London – a vast city straddling the river Thames – only has 33.

A notoriously difficult place to traverse

Not forgetting that Sydney is also surrounded by mountains and highlands, the city boasts an impressive layout – take a look for yourself using this topographic map. But here’s the thing – while some of us are enjoying the sights of the great outdoors, Sydney’s drivers and logistics businesses are probably cursing the place. That’s right, everything we love about Sydney makes it a notoriously difficult place to traverse.

Cut and spliced by water, the ever-expanding Sydney Orbital Network aims to transport travellers around the city in the quickest possible time with 160 kilometres of surface roads, bridges, underpasses, and tunnels. But of course, there’s only so much infrastructure can achieve with Sydney’s challenging geography!

Yes, you might think you could paddle a kayak between Bondi and Manly (maybe), but getting between the two by road is a completely different story. Similarly, while it feels like you could reach out and touch the CBD from Balmain Wharf, it’ll take good 30-45 minutes to get there by road during peak hour. Not to mention the notorious bottle neck that is the Pacific Highway.

Using courier innovation to make delivery transport faster

So, here at Go People, we’re doing our bit by bringing the latest in courier innovation to ensure those deliveries are getting around the city as quickly as possible. We’re talking about our unique in-house developed Estimated Working Time (EWT) algorithm.

EWT has been specially designed to calculate the fastest delivery route for runners. Whether it’s a single same-day delivery or multiple deliveries with GoSHIFT – EWT processes the delivery addresses and provides delivery runners with the quickest route based on factors such as density of orders by area, real-time traffic conditions, and the difficulty of drop-offs at each location.

Courier innovation at its best, Go People’s EWT is a giant step forward in the world of logistics and delivery transport which makes same-day deliveries faster and more predictable. That’s right, Go People customers can share this information with parcel recipients so they can (finally) find out exactly when to expect that delivery!
